Responsible Development & Affordability

Under No Circumstances will Developers get a break on development costs from the city!!

The current mayor has suggested freezing development tax for 2 years

The monies collected for these taxes help to pay for the infrastructure surrounding new residential development. These developers have been profiting off the housing crisis for years. Now they are not getting the same profit margins, they want the tax payer to pay??

As mayor, I will work with the province on meeting new development targets

The province has already expanded the boundary for development in Halton region

The regional chair position is now an appointed one and not elected. The reason for this, the province wants the chair to drive development in the region. This means Burlington needs a myor NOT compromised by the interests of certain developers. As mayor, I will work with the new chair on meeting the target numbers set out by the province.
  • Developers will not be given tax breaks
  • Increasing the supply of new homes will increase city revenues
  • With responsible development brings affordability

Burlington has already lost out of 25 million not meeting new housing targets.

Only city in the GTA that has not recieved monies from the Building Faster Fund from province
Not recieving these funds is a result of poor planning, questionable decisions and incompetence. Mayor Marianne Ward and the councilors that have supported her through the years, have lost so much in monies and completely screwed up downtown with lack of infrastructure. As mayor, I will remove any boundary restrcitions in cooperation with the province and let development happen elsewhere within region.

As Easy as Asking a Question

Burlington businesses will be encouraged to hire or contract local people that meet the criteria of services being searched. These services could range from IT to trades...or just administrative type requirements. The city will host an online website that residents will register with and it would be matched up with voter list to validate resident.
